About Louise Hawker
My passion is helping people write their life stories, personal histories and memoirs and seeing the process all the way through to publishing a book. Everyone has a story to tell. As your writer and editor, I will guide you, be your sounding board, impartial and engaged listener, fact checker and partner in making your story what you want it to be. I have many years of experience as an editor and writer, so you can be assured the final product will be professional and something you can be proud to share.
Before I focused on life stories, my work involved writing, editing, marketing and public relations in a variety of settings. For ten years, I was assistant director of The Nature of Words, a nonprofit literary organization that offered an annual festival with renowned guest authors, and creative writing workshops for students and adults. My career in the computer software industry involved writing technical manuals, marketing literature, client and prospect communications, and interaction with corporate managers throughout the US.

I recently completed a stint as marketing manager for "Via Lactea, A New Opera in English," which had its world premiere in Bend, Oregon June 2016.

Currently, I am on the Board of Directors of the Waterston Desert Writing Prize, which annually honors creative nonfiction that illustrates artistic excellence, sensitivity to place, and desert literacy, with the desert as both subject and setting.
